Greetings, reader! My name is Drew, and welcome. Thank you for visiting my blog and expressing an interest in my passion for storytelling.
Many readers have asked me to write something about myself, which is certainly my weakest topic! There's a lot of history behind the drive that pushes me to share stories with the world, but the reason that I write is very simple.
Escape.
As far as my personality goes, I am the worst kind of soft spoken intellectual, stuck somewhere between the apprehensive and cynical variety. Above many things, I am a free-spirited, impulsive gentleman, perhaps a few lessons away from figurative knighthood in my pursuit of chivalry.
I have a fatal flaw in my obsession with the pursuit of perfect storytelling. I say flaw because my genre of fiction is horror. I love the prospect of a crafted story that can keep the human brain returning to it over and over again, even weeks later. While horror causes revolt in those who succumb to the discomfort of fear easily, there are some people who find no better pleasure than the high of being absolutely creeped out. To compare myself to you, if you're the person who knows you'll be stuck awake all night if you open a Stephen King book or watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then I am the person who starved myself of sleep for months just to make sure the story was terrifying enough to trigger every light on in the house at 4 a.m. and keep you awake until sunrise.
I believe that music is the most beautiful form of expression in the universe, and I thrive in the company of those who can arrange words of the English language in such a manner that their words change people, or at least allow them to escape to a different place for awhile. While I am an author first, I am a musician close behind.
This past year, I completed my first novel length manuscript, and I took a short break from writing a second novel, opting to produce shorts based on everything from fictional apocalyptic dimensions to the true horror of mundane routines and their destructive potential.
I am a person of sound faith and resolve, although at times I'm afraid that there are more bad qualities than good. I am very superstitious, and I like to think my karma score is very positive! I'd like to keep it that way. ;)
Right now, I'm looking for support from fans and readers. I will send you over 500 pages of fiction if you're willing to read my material and post me an Amazon Kindle review (which costs nothing).
I hope my insights provoked a thought or two!
My name is Drew, and I will continue to craft stories as long as there are people to share them with.
10 Questions That People E-Mail Me A Lot
1) How old are you?
25.
2) Do you write anything besides horror?
Yes, I just don't post it here, or anywhere. It's not ready for other human eyes yet.
3) Is Kindle profitable?
It's easy and it's the future. Embrace it or get left behind.
4) What is the basic synopsis for your next novel?
Three novels are currently in the works. The first is the arc from Necropotence, the second is a vampire world that I created with Liquid Blue and another upcoming short story called "The Well," and the third is a memoir.
5) When are more old-school style short stories coming? We miss your old creepypasta stuff.
They will all be unveiled at once in a second short story compendium on Kindle. I'll post three of them on the blog, and the rest will be purchase only.
6) Where can I hear your music stuff?
Soon, I'll have our material in cyberspace. I feel very good about it.
7) Are you single?
Yeah.
8) What music do you listen to when you write?
Long, developing, mellow music. Some electronica. Lots of low chords (Tool or APC, etc.)
9) How long did it take to write Nethergame?
Eight months.
10) Have you actually done some of the crazy non-paranormal stuff you write about?
Some of it is from personal experience. I've never hurt anyone, but I'm a fan of social experiments.
